Microsoft Announces Silverlight 4 Available for Download

Scott Guthrie, Microsoft corporate vice president, announced that Silverlight 4 files and tooling will be available for download Thursday April 15. Silverlight 4 is the fourth release of this developer product in just over two years. Guthrie noted that this version is twice as fast as earlier versions, the setup is 30 percent faster, and there are new profiling APIs to monitor apps.

MIX10: Microsoft Makes Silverlight and Windows Phone 7 Series Announcements

Microsoft made a Silverlight 4 release candidate (RC) available for download today, Scott Guthrie, Microsoft corporate vice president announced from the keynote at MIX 10.  This RC builds on the beta that Microsoft released at the PDC last November. A highlight of the keynote was the first deep dive for application developers into the recently announced Windows Phone 7 Series. "As the browser, server, Web and devices evolve, a focus on delivering consistently great user experiences has become paramount," according to Guthrie. "By extending our familiar plaftorm technologies and tools to phones, Microsoft is delivering the premiere application development experience across a variety of devices and form factors."

Microsoft Announces Availability of Windows Server AppFabric Beta 2

  Developers and IT professionals working with .NET 4 and Windows Server  will be interested to hear Microsoft's announcement today that the Beta 2 for Windows Server AppFabric is available for download today http://msdn.microsoft.com/appfabric.  AppFabric is a set of application services focused on improving the speed, scale, and management of web, composite, and enterprise applications. The company noted that the final version will be delivered by Q3 of 2010.
